Skio adds box rebuild option to cancellation flow
Table of contents: 3 sections
Skio has updated the cancellation flow for Build a Box subscriptions, allowing customers to swap or rebuild their box contents instead of completing a full cancellation. This addresses a specific retention challenge where customers might cancel over box composition alone, rather than losing interest in subscriptions altogether.
Modifying contents without cancellation
Skio shared this update on its product updates site. The cancellation flow now includes an option to modify box contents, allowing customers to swap items or rebuild their next shipment while keeping their subscription active, avoiding the need for a full cancellation and reactivation cycle.
Capturing at-risk customers
Cancellation requests often reflect a single pain point, such as box mismatch, rather than loss of interest in the subscription model. When that pain point is box composition, offering box customization during cancellation gives customers a way to stay. For merchants, this preserves subscription revenue at a moment when customers are on the verge of leaving.
The feature is automatically enabled for all Build a Box subscriptions and requires no setup. Customers will see the option when they start a cancellation.
Verifying the new cancellation option
Test the cancellation flow using a test Build a Box subscription to confirm the option appears and changes are applied correctly. Verify that the subscription remains active after modification and the updated contents are scheduled for the next shipment.
