Skio Quick Actions: Direct Redemption and Offline Distribution
Table of contents: 2 sections
Skio released two updates to its Quick Actions feature that expand how merchants can drive loyalty engagement. Merchants can now embed a Redeem Credits link directly in emails that customers can tap to access their balance, and create subscription-free Quick Action links that work in QR codes, SMS, and mailers without requiring a subscription ID.
Direct Redemption in Email
The Redeem Credits link removes navigation steps from the redemption flow. Instead of directing customers to log in and find a redemption option in their account, merchants can embed a direct redemption trigger in promotional emails. Customers tap the link and access their credits or loyalty balance immediately. For merchants running loyalty programs or store credit programs, this changes the redemption moment from log in, navigate, redeem to tap, redeem.
The practical benefit is clearest in seasonal campaigns. When merchants announce bonus points, celebrate expiring credits, or promote a limited offer, the direct link reduces friction at the moment of peak customer engagement. Fewer steps between reading the offer and acting on it typically means higher completion rates.
Subscription-Free Quick Actions for Offline Channels
The second update removes the subscription ID requirement from Quick Action links. Previously, these links required the merchant to identify the customer within Skio before enabling the action. The update enables static and reusable links that work without this enrollment step, opening distribution to channels where customer identity is not already known.
Merchants can now generate action links that live in QR codes on packaging or receipts, in SMS messages, or in direct mail materials. A QR code printed on a shipment can point directly to a loyalty action. A customer scanning the code lands on the action without needing to log in first. The same link can run across multiple shipments or campaigns without unique generation per transaction. This matters for merchants seeking to drive loyalty engagement beyond email, where owned channels like packaging and SMS are primary touchpoints.
Skio documents the change in its product updates site.
