Loop Refines Variant Selection to Remove Dead-End Choices
Table of contents: 3 sections
Loop updated its customer portal to show only valid variant combinations as a single merged list, removing dead-end selections from products with size and flavor options that don't exist together. This addresses a core friction point: customers in swap and upsell flows no longer face unavailable product options.
Eliminating Friction in Variant Selection
Previously, when a customer browsed swap or upsell options, they could select a product and then encounter a color or size that the merchant never stocked for that product. Loop now filters the variant list to show only combinations the store actually carries. This means a customer selecting a blue sweater in medium gets only the sizes and colors that exist for that sweater, not a full matrix of theoretical options. The change applies across swap flows, upsell flows, and product edit screens in the customer portal.
Extended Profile and Discount Tracking
Loop now accepts $0-priced products in swap profiles, letting merchants include free or zero-cost SKUs alongside paid options. A new toggle enables merchants to include general profile products in the swap catalog, broadening which items appear during a swap without requiring a dedicated profile setup. Additionally, when a swap includes a discounted product, the discount attribution now logs in the subscription activity log, giving merchants visibility into which discounts were applied during customer product changes.
Operational Visibility
Reviewing the subscription activity log after swaps helps merchants understand which discounts incentivized changes and whether customers are taking advantage of bundle pricing or promotional offers in the swap flow. This data is useful for deciding whether swap profile pricing should be adjusted or simplified in future catalog updates.
Loop documents the change in its product updates site.
