Recharge Adds Dynamic Pricing to Affinity Portal
Table of contents: 2 sections
Recharge has added dynamic pricing support to Affinity, its customer self-service portal. Subscribers can now switch between introductory and recurring pricing plans directly without requiring merchant staff to process the change. Pricing displays transparently, and the progression logic stays consistent whether the customer signs up fresh, accesses their portal later, or responds to a billing reminder.
What changed in Affinity
Affinity now surfaces pricing options for subscriptions configured with trial rates that convert to recurring rates. When customers open the portal, they see their active plan and available tier changes. They can upgrade, downgrade, or confirm continuation at the new rate directly. The portal handles the transaction and passes it to billing, applying the correct amount for the interval.
Self-service reduces operational friction
Merchants previously managed trial-to-recurring conversions through dashboard updates or customer support handoffs. Automating this workflow through self-service eliminates this step, especially valuable for stores with large subscriber bases. Customers who would otherwise email to change plans or ask about pricing can resolve it themselves. This also reduces dispute risk: they see the exact pricing beforehand and confirm it themselves.
The consistent pricing logic across all entry points eliminates edge cases where the same customer sees different pricing depending on signup method, portal access timing, or billing event. Whether a customer changes plans through Affinity or billing applies a transition automatically, the rate calculation follows the same rules.
Recharge documents the change in its product updates site.
